Safety film

Your locks are fine. The glass is not.

A car side window breaks with one strike from a small hardened tool. A ground floor shop window breaks with one blow from a hammer. Locks, alarms and security guards do not protect the glass, and the glass fails in seconds. NanoShade safety film bonds the glass into a single sheet, so a broken window stays in its frame and does not open. That keeps the people inside safe and everything behind the glass protected.

A tall facade panel hit hard, cracked into a dense web but still held flat and whole in its frame by the safety film on the inside

What unprotected glass costs you.

Three losses, and one layer of film prevents all three.

01Forced entryIn a car, one strike on the side window puts a thief right next to the bag on the passenger seat. In a building, the ground floor glass is the weakest part of the whole structure. Unprotected glass is the easiest way into anything you own.
02Injury from broken glassIn a collision, a storm or an earthquake, glass that is not bonded leaves the frame at speed and flies into the car or the room. The accident is the first danger. The flying glass is the second.
03The cost after the damageNew glass, a shop closed until the glass is replaced, a vehicle that cannot be used, the insurance excess and a police report. The stolen item is usually the smallest of these costs.

What happens on impact.

  1. 01ImpactThe glass breaks. No film prevents that. Building glass cracks from the point of impact. Vehicle side glass is tempered, so it breaks across the whole pane at once.
  2. 02The pane holdsA strong adhesive layer bonds every piece of glass to the film, so the broken pane stays in its frame as one solid sheet.
  3. 03Entry is delayedTo make an opening, the attacker now has to strike the same spot again and again. That takes time, it makes noise, and it happens in full view.
  4. 04The glass stays in the frameIf the pane finally leaves the frame, it leaves as one bonded sheet instead of loose pieces flying at speed.
Close up of a pane that has been hit hard, with every piece still lying flat in one bonded sheet and the reflection running unbroken across the cracks

The same pane. The same strike. One has safety film.

Without film, the window becomes an open hole and the glass is on the ground. With film, the glass still breaks, but every piece stays bonded in one sheet and the window stays closed.

A hotel lobby window smashed through, leaving an opening the width of a person, with the broken glass lying across the forecourt outside
No film An opening, and the glass is on the ground.
The same hotel lobby window hit just as hard, cracked into a dense web but still one flat sheet filling its frame, with the forecourt clean
With NanoShade safety film Cracked, but still one sheet. The window stays closed.
A car door window smashed, the aperture empty, thousands of glass pebbles across the sill, the seat and the road, the bag gone
No film One strike. The window is open and the bag is gone.
The same door window shattered into thousands of pieces that stayed stuck to the film as one sheet, still filling the door frame, nothing on the road
With NanoShade safety film Shattered, but still one sheet in the frame.

Two specifications.

Protection and heat control in one layer, or protection only where the glass must stay clear.

Recommended

Nano-ceramic safety film, 4 mil

The film we fit on most jobs. One layer that holds a broken pane together and blocks more than 99% of infrared heat and UV, and up to 92% of total solar energy. One product, one installation, one 10 year e-warranty.

Clear safety film, 8 mil

The thickest film we fit. We use it where the glass must stay completely clear, or where the glass already has a heat control film on it. This film gives protection only. It does not block heat or UV, and any NanoShade heat control film can be fitted over it.

Where we fit it.

Anywhere glass is the outer surface, and the building cannot close.

Tell us what the glass is and we will tell you which film it needs.

How to get a quote.

Two different ways, because we price a vehicle and a building from different information.

A car side window after an attempted break-in, shattered into thousands of small pieces that stayed stuck to the film as one sheet, still filling the door frame

Cars

Side and rear glass, with or without a tint over it. Send us your car model and we will quote from that. The windscreen is already laminated at the factory, so it does not need safety film.

Safety film is where this brand started. South Africa has strong sun and a serious crime problem, so film there has to do both jobs. That is the range we brought to Indonesia.

Common questions.

Does safety film stop the window from breaking?

No. The glass still breaks. The film holds the pieces together as one sheet, so the pane stays in its frame, no opening is made, and no glass enters the car or the room.

Which film should I choose?

The nano-ceramic 4 mil for most jobs, because it protects the glass and blocks more than 99% of infrared heat and UV in one layer. Choose the clear 8 mil if the glass must stay completely clear, or if it already has a heat control film on it.

Will it change how the glass looks?

The clear film does not change the look at all. The nano-ceramic film comes in three shades at 18%, 35% and 70% VLT, so from outside it looks like a normal tint.

Can it be fitted on a car that is already tinted?

Yes. We remove the existing film, fit the safety film to the glass, then fit the tint over it. That is the correct order and we complete it in one visit.

Does it help in a collision?

Yes. Bonded glass does not fly into the car, and flying glass is the main cause of injury from side windows.

How long does an installation take?

A car is finished in one day. A building is scheduled one side or one floor at a time, so the building keeps operating.

What does it cost?

It depends on the number of panes and their size. Send us your car model, or your window list and city, on WhatsApp and we will send you a firm quote.
